Guitar Hero III Wii Bundle at Wal-Mart

For all of you out there trying to hunt down a copy of Guitar Hero III for the Wii for Christmas (this would be the lucky few who have a Wii already), you might have noticed that your luck ran out after you found your Wii. Guitar Hero III (for the Wii especially) is selling like hotcakes and stores are struggling to keep up with the demand.

Enter Wal-Mart to save the day.

Not only is Guitar Hero III for Wii in stock at their online store, but it’s selling for the ridiculously low price of $89.92 (including controller) with $10 shipping to your house, or free shipping to a Wal-Mart store near you.

Droppin’ a mere $90 for a game that is going for upwards of $250 on eBay? I dare say that’s quite a nice little bargain Wal-Mart is running there.

Columnist: Video Games are the Crack Cocaine of the Electronic World

That’s right boys and girls, ladies and gentlemen, video games are crack cocaine! It’s true!

“This is an outrage!” you decry shaking your fist in the air. “I refuse to believe it’s true.”

Oh, the truth is out there, you just need to know where to look.

Today’s nugget of wisdom comes thanks to Father Raymond J. de Souza. He is a columnist in Canada’s conservative paper, the National Post. Yup, he’s a Canadian. Yup, he’s a priest. And yup, Read the rest…

Buy a Nintendo Wii

Hunting for a Nintendo Wii this holiday season? Yeah, who isn’t? Due to the limited supply and insane demand, there aren’t many ways to buy a Wii these days. (I’m not one of those conspiracy theorists who think that Nintendo is trying to keep the Wii supply at a trickle. Why would they do that? It’s just money they’re losing).

If you’re looking for some tips and tricks about acquiring a Wii this holiday season, then follow this advice and you should be able to buy a Wii. Read the rest…

Video Game Social Network: PlayerHousing

Are you looking for ways to connect with fellow gamers? The newest 360 update has helped solve some of these problems by making communication easier, but it’s still a cumbersome solution. And what if you don’t own a 360? What if you’re a PS3 king, or a PC enthusiast? What are you going to do then?

The answer: PlayerHousing.

Four friends, all gamers, all people who made it in the gaming industry (one as a programmer, one as a graphic artist, one as a web developer and one as a game industry visionary), developed this site for all gamers and virtual world enthusiasts. They understood the severe lack of interconnectivity in today’s gaming world and filled the void.

Not only that, but they are currently running a contest to win a Wii, one of the most sought after gaming systems of this current generation. All you need to do is go and sign up, and then refer your friends. The more people who you refer and who sign up, the better your odds are getting a Wii. Go check them out.

iPhone Gets PS Emulator: Finally a Good Reason for an iPhone

iPhone Gets PS Emulator

Let it ring from the mountaintops: psx4all is soon entering beta testing! This PlayStation emulator for the iPhone will finally give owners of the Apple equivalent to the monocle something to be truly snooty about. “Oh, I do declare, there appear to be ruffians all around. I shan’t stand this riffraff any longer; I’m going to take myself and my iPhone to a better part of town.”

The developer is estimating that about 75% of the PS games will be compatible with this emulator. However, they do warn that with such a large library of games, psx4all might not support your favorite one. Also, if you’re worried about these screens, don’t be. They’re early test shots and the look should get cleaner and the controls will get further developed before psx4all makes it into the wild.

The only bad news coming out of this is the impact on the already inflated self-worth of iPhone owners. How much this will increase their arrogance is nigh incalculable. It’s still unclear how they will be able to live with the rest of society.

Amazon Video Game Deals: Buy One, Get One Free

Proceeding strongly into their fifth day, Amazon is still pushing their 10 Days, 10 Deal hard. Today they’re letting all of those DS and Wii owners stock up on some much needed game love.

Today’s deal:

Day 5: Pick any two of these DS or Wii games, and you’ll get the cheaper one for free: The Aly & AJ Adventure (DS), Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 (DS), New York Times Crosswords (DS), Master of Illusion (DS), Underground Pool (DS), Tomb Raider Anniversary (Wii Edition), Donkey Kong: Barrel Blast (Wii), Avatar: The Burning Earth (Wii), Manhunt 2 (Wii), Victorious Boxers: Revolution (Wii).

All in all, that’s not a bad little deal if you’re looking to expand your gaming collection. Granted, they could have picked a few better games (the Aly & AJ Adventure, seriously?), but there are at least two games for each system that I could see getting. Well, there is at least one game for each system that I wouldn’t mind buying…and then getting one free, it’s hard to argue against that. Read the rest…

Schwarzenegger Not Part of New Conan Game: Because It Sucks

Schwarzenegger Not Part of New Conan Game: Because It Sucks

Over at GamePolitics they’re reporting that Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is distancing himself from the Conan game put out by THQ.

The new Conan game is, well, let’s just say overly violent. I mean, it’s not that ripping off people’s arms and cutting off their legs isn’t fun and all, but it tends to be a little, uh, over the top (and no, I’m not talkin’ about the Stallone classic, Over the Top, where he must compete in an arm wrestling championship).

It’s so juicily bloody, that State Senator Leland Yee is criticizing it and wanting kids to make sure not to have it on their Christmas lists (’cause telling kids that something is bad for them always works).

To defend his honor, Gov. Schwarzenegger’s spokesman Aaron McLear came out with a statement that the governor has “no association with this game.”

Some people may say that the Gov. Schwarzenegger is cutting a mean swath through the gaming industry, what with his signing of the video game law in 2005. However, I think he just doesn’t want people to think that he’s associated with such an awfully bad game. Seriously, it’s boring. Were I him, I’d make an official decree that all people who bought this game would learn what is best in life: “To crush your enemies (the people who bought this game), see them driven before you (take that, dumb game buyers) and hear the lamentation of the women!”

Buy Xbox 360 Halo Edition, Halo 3 Limited Edition and Call of Duty 4, Get $50 Off

Amazon continues their 10 Days, 10 Deals video game sale with their fourth offering. This one is definitely aiming at the harder-core market, rather than the casual gamers of the second and third days.

In case you missed the first three deals, they were:

Day 3: When you buy an Xbox 360 Arcade console, you get Beautiful Katamari and Viva Piñata Party Animals free.
Day 2: Buy GameCube console, get Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door free.
Day 1: Buy PS3 40GB console, get PS3 Blu-ray remote and Stranglehold Collector’s Edition free.

Today’s deal:

Day 4: When you buy the Halo 3 Special Edition Xbox 360, Halo 3 Limited Edition and Call of Duty 4, you’ll get $50 off.

As far as deals goes, this one is decent, but not phenomenal. However, if you’re son or daughter (or heck, even good friend or parent, they like games too) doesn’t already have the 360 with these game, then pick it up. Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4 are two of the best shooters currently available for any system, so any opportunity to buy one and get one free, hell, take it.
